Since hitting my 30s there’s been a pressure building, “You need to lose weight!”. The pressure was ignorable for a long time, but many factors have made that voice louder and louder until, at age 45, it could not be ignored. 350 pounds was my highest weight reached, which I carried well on my 6 foot frame. My foods were primarily Meat and Carbs (Noodles, Potatoes, candy!) I hate vegetables and salad was kind of ok, because I knew good food was coming after the salad. In my 30s is when I started noticing physical changes: the injuries started, and exercise was becoming increasingly difficult and frustrating. As my weight started to rise so did my blood pressure. Each year, meeting with my doctor you can see a direct correlating graph of my weight going up and my blood pressure going up. Also, my cholesterol increased at a steady rate. By 350 lbs, I was on two blood pressure medicines and a cholesterol medicine. My doctor has strongly recommended weight loss with various suggestions. At this rate, I knew that I was getting nearer and nearer to dropping dead from something.

Now I can deal with the natural symptoms of growing old without the compounded problems of weight. The IP Program gave me the knowledge that, at any time, I have a plan for getting into ‘weight loss’ mode. Most important, I have a much better day to day plan for eating better and being happy about it. Life is much more enjoyable when you’re healthy.
