My journey started as my husband’s plus one. His cardiologist had strongly recommended that he lose some weight in order to help his heart work better. We had both been on several different diets over the years; and we’d lose some weight but would regain it all back…and then some. But as years have gone by, I developed type II diabetes. It was a struggle keeping my blood sugar numbers down and it got harder by the day.

Lifestyle Building - Losing the weight
The Ideal Protein was easier then I had anticipated. The food selection was surprisingly better than I thought. There were days when the breakfast muffins were not enough, but having cucumbers and celery as my go to really help curb those hunger pains. These days though, snacking is no longer a part of my day. My pantry and refrigerator has had an entire makeover; and cooking “healthy” is our new norm.
Lifestyle Living - Keeping the weight off
Since I have made my lifestyle changes, I no longer need insulin and my oral dosage has been reduced to control my diabetes. Prior to this journey, my fasting blood sugar readings were in the 150-180 range. This was my norm, even when I increased my insulin dosage. Today, it feels like a miracle that I’m within the normal range for blood sugar readings. I’ve also signed up for yoga classes because I feel better these days. The aches and pains which I had accepted as badges of honor for getting old are no longer persistent. It’s been a journey, not just for me, but for my entire family.
