I had been playing with the idea of getting serious about losing weight, but it wasn't until I put my start date and goal date on my calendar that everything changed. After many failed attempts at getting into a healthier weight, my willingness to make a change was hurt. This changed when I turned 30. My health was declining and there was no longer denying that things weren't going to get any better. I was delaying things like traveling because I was so afraid to be uncomfortable or even fit in the seat since I was already using a seat belt extender on domestic flights. I can't lie and say that it was easy to lose it or to maintain, but I can say that it is totally worth it. The feeling of taking control over my life cannot be described.

My weight loss journey showed me the amount of events and activities that I was constructing around food was incredible. A lot of experiences on my life related to the food that I had or was going to have. For example, family gatherings had lost the meaning of hosting; bonding and catching up with family and friends and, were now an opportunity to eat uncontrollably, naps and regret.
Lifestyle Living - Keeping the weight off
It’s very eye opening how much I still enjoy food. My wife and I enjoy being in the kitchen together and experimenting with food, making old unhealthier favorites better for us and our current lifestyle. Our relationship with food is in a better place and we wouldn’t change that for anything in the world. Another thing has been the ease of running to get out of the rain or going up several flights of stairs without losing my breath. It’s still surprising and keeps me motivated to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
