Like many people “I have tried it all” my whole life, including time at an adult “health” camp. My family was sitting on a NC beach when a man (well over 70 years of age) ran past us, dropped a stand-up paddle board in the ocean and paddled away. I thought I WANT to do that when I am his age and I can’t even do that now! This was my wake-up call, I need to lose weight to get rid of my physical pains (aching knees, foot issues, back aches, lack of strength, etc.) and I had to admit to myself that these were not all “just age related” feelings. I really started to realize that I had to do something different in my life if I even wanted the possibility of the future I desired/dreamed of.

REALLY?! ME?! I have a very intelligent friend who attended an Ideal Protein Introduction session years ago. She came to me and said “This really makes sense that our pancreas needs to be reset to process the foods we eat better (glycogen fuel tank.)” And I was not interested in hearing about the program because I didn’t think eliminating food groups and buying products was a sustainable way to lose and keep weight in control. Well the joke was on me because two years later, I learned that the Ideal Protein Program is not about eliminating food groups, it is about food combinations. It isn’t about buying products, it is about offering a wide variety of food products that I can chose to use as tools while I learn."

The legitimate education I learned from my coaches and the Ideal Protein videos. I realized a long time ago that I couldn’t eat the same thing as my family and friends and have the same results. I was surprised that I could (and NEEDED to) eat to lose weight. In the past I tried to “power through” – literally not eating to lose weight. I am truly amazed that I learned to eat to fuel my body!
Lifestyle Living - Keeping the weight off
The way I feel, the energy I have, and the choices I have….I feel better mentally and physically, there is a “clarity” to having the energy to make decisions, move more (even choosing to take the stairs and parking farther from the destination,) having a food routine. I used to think routine was boring but having a “food routine” allows me to do more, plan more activities because I know what and how to eat to have energy and stability when “life happens.” Unexpectedly, my life has truly changed after “reaching my goal,” more than a number on the scale. I enjoy my new lifestyle. It is my decision and choice (in my control) what to eat and when to plan accordingly for an “indulgence.” Including “indulgences” that occur daily or weekly, planned or unplanned, I feel confident to know what to do and how to do it!
