Since childhood, I’ve been on one weight loss program after another, living the yo-yo diet effect that ultimately got me to 316 lbs. Then when told that I was diabetic, I lived in denial for years and had uncontrollable blood sugar levels. In 2000, I was told that a gastric bypass was the cure to my diabetes. This worked for about ten years, then my diabetes came back. The surgery worked well, but I never learned how to eat the proper foods or how to keep my weight and diabetes under control. In 2018, a family friend posted on facebook that she’d lost 80 lbs. My wife, told me she had to give this a try. I told her that if she could lose 60 lbs then I would do the protocol too. Being diabetic and overweight is hard. Being on a weight loss protocol is hard. It was time to choose my hard. I knew that I had to make healthier lifestyle choices, so, I decided that one of them would be to lose weight. Now, I’m motivated to stick with it because I want to be able to do things in the future and be able to help others like me. As I'm closing in on my weight loss goal, it’s time to share my story.

Lifestyle Building - Losing the weight
I was most surprised by the fact that I was able to stop taking my diabetes medication after two weeks of losing weight on the protocol. Since losing weight, my cholesterol has dropped from the 170s to the 110s and my blood pressure and heart rate has reduced. While being hard, it really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
Lifestyle Living - Keeping the weight off
I enjoy the fact that my body is starting to function more normally and that I can do things with much more ease. The journey is not yet over, so I’m looking forward to seeing what other wonderful things will come from losing 100 lbs and being at a weight that I can’t even remember being at.
